CANADIAN SKI LODGE

A design prepared for Ski Lodge in a Canadian resort.

The design caters to a substantial brief whilst maintaining an articulated facade and balanced proportions.

The structure is grounded to the significant slope of the site by a stone clad plinth which encompasses the lower level entertaining spaces as well as the garage and services spaces. The top of the plinth forms the main living terrace and the platform for the living and bedrooms levels above.

Oversized timber beams and columns reinterpret traditional log cabin construction with beams spanning out to form a super structure to support the first floor and roof.

A transparent glass enclosure tops out the construction as the ski in and ski out lift access. It is envisaged as a glowing lantern to guide you home at night.
